2011 World Series Game 1 Preview: Time, TV Schedule And More

The St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers will face off on Wednesday night for Game 1 of the 2011 World Series. The game time, pitching matchups and television schedule and everything else is included below.

The 2011 World Series gets underway on Wednesday evening when the Texas Rangers take on the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 1 of the seven-game series. There's quite a bit of World Series preview information around Baseball Nation already, but the nuts and bolts of the opening game -- along with the time, TV schedule and all of that relevant information -- is posted below for the reader's viewing pleasure.

The pitching matchup, at least for Game 1, seems to be key. C.J. Wilson will take the mound for the Rangers and Chris Carpenter will start for the Cardinals as the two battle to determine which team will take an early advantage in the annual Fall Classic. Wilson hasn't exactly had a postseason to remember, as those reading this are aware, but helping his team to victory in the opening game of the World Series could do quite a bit to change that -- unless the bullpens become a factor early, of course.

To find out if Wilson and Carpenter will take turns fanning the opposing hitters, however, everyone is going to have to tune into FOX on Wednesday night. Coverage of the game begins at 7:30 ET with the opening pitch scheduled to be thrown at 8:05. A full schedule of the World Series schedule, with start times, was revealed last week.

For more on the Texas Rangers, be sure to visit Lone Star Ball. If the St. Louis Cardinals are the team to root for, though, don’t forget about Viva El Birdos. And, while waiting for the game to start, make sure to catch a special World Series edition of the MLB Power Rankings.
