The hardest part about doing a mock draft during the NFL season is deciding the draft order.
You can go by the current standings, but they'll be in flux all season. Or you can project the rest of the season and alienate segments of fans who think their team's hot start is for real.
In his latest mock draft, Chad Reuter of CBS Sports/NFL Draft Scout opts to go with the current draft order option.
As such, he has the Miami Dolphins picking first overall and getting Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck. As the weeks go by, it seems clear the Dolphins may have to go after a quarterback next year. If the team is drafting in the top five, head coach Tony Sparano is likely out. Why not restart the franchise with not only a new coach but a new signal caller as well?

One of the picks in this mock I really like is No. 27 with the Pittsburgh Steelers getting Georgia offensive lineman Cordy Glenn. The powerful Glenn is a perfect fit for the Steelers’ power blocking scheme.
That’s always something to keep in mind when doing a mock. For instance, Reuter does well with the next pick, giving the New England Patriots cornerback Chase Minniefield. It’s a nice scheme fit.
The only pick I really don’t like is the last one, with the Green Bay Packers being given tight end Dwayne Allen. While it’s possible the Packers could need a tight end if
isn’t re-signed, it’s doubtful they’d do so in the first round.
