New York Times - The turn on the power
The play that best encapsulates the revival of Stanford’s football team, which has gone from 1-11 in 2006 to a national title contender in 2011, is called 97 Power. Right guard David DeCastro pulls hard to his left to bulldoze a linebacker, and left tackle Jonathan Martin, known as Moose, blocks a defensive end to clear the way for a simple inside running play.
Draft Insider - Small school rankings: Offensive line
The next level prospects on the offensive line positions from small schools are stronger than any other unit from the scoring side of the ball. The senior class is headlined by a pair of highly rated guards and the area also offers a few sleepers later down the board.
NFL Draft Scout - Michigan State suspends emerging start Gholston for punch
One of the more intriguing matchups of the weekend just lost a bit of its luster, as Michigan State defensive end William Gholston has been suspended for Saturday's tilt against Wisconsin.
Buffalo Bills Draft - Will the top playmaker please stand up?
Let’s play a game, I’m going to describe one of the top WR’s in this draft class and I want you to try and guess who he is. He plays in a predominantly run oriented offense, but despite that he has accumulated over 2,000 career receiving yards, and over 150 receptions. Any guesses yet?
Turf Show Times - 2012 NFL Draft and Jason Smith's future with the Rams
After watching the performance of the offensive line this year, it's hard not to be a little disappointed. Granted, they were a much better unit against the Packers last week, but it's alarming that Sam Bradford has been sacked 21 times now and for the first time in his short NFL career his status for starting is in doubt.
Cincy Jungle - Two first round picks next April? May heaven hep the Cincinnati Bengals
It’s funny, in all too many years, draft talk was all we had by now. The 0-and-whatever Bengals would already be shutting it down for the season, the fan base would be busy grilling filet of Brown and Paul Daugherty would be groaning about another death march and offering to rake people’s lawns.
