How does Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins top what he did last week against Wisconsin? I'm not talking about Cousins' last second game-winning hail mary, either. Against the Badgers, Cousins completed 71 percent of his passes for 290 yards and three scores. As prospect, he's never looked better. He'll have a harder time against Nebraska, but could boost his draft stock with another good game.
Cousins' favorite target is senior B.J. Cunningham, a dependable but unspectacular player. He has solid size at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds and he knows how to use his frame to his advantage. He projects as a team's No. 3 or 4 wide receiver at the next level.
Michigan State at Nebraska NFL Draft watch notes
This game features two good cornerbacks in Nebraska’s Alfonzo Dennard and Michigan State’s
. Both are physical corners that can re-route wide receivers. In the four games he’s played this season, Dennard hasn’t been tested a whole lot, so it will be interesting to see what happens if he lines up against Cunningham.
One of the deeper positions in the 2012 NFL Draft is going to be weakside linebacker and few are as good as Nebraska’s Lavonte David. He’s averaging just over nine tackles a game this season and has really come on of late.
Michigan State defensive tackle
has been playing much better of late, but his stats aren’t showing it. He’s looking like a late first to mid-second round pick. Nebraska junior tackle Baker Steinkuler has been decent this season but really needs to come back for his senior year.
