Hendrick Motorsports team owner, Rick Hendrick and his wife, Linda were among four people who escaped serious injury early Monday evening after the plane they were riding in ran off the end of the runway upon landing in Key West, Florida.

A statement released by HMS said the Gulfstream G150 aircraft operated by the team ran off the runway after experiencing "braking issues" upon landing. Rick Hendrick, his wife, and the two pilots were all taken to a local hospital for evalutation.

The Monroe County Sherriff's Office said two people were transported for minor injuries and two were transported for precautionary reasons.

The team said its gathering more information on the crash, which occured at 7:45pm Eastern time.

According to a blog on the sheriff's office website, the plane was registered to Jimmie Johnson Racing II Incorporated out of Charlotte North Carolina and had the tail number N48oJJ.

Plane crashes are not unfamiliar to the Hendrick family. On October 24, 2004 a Beechcraft Super King Air 200 owned by Hendrik crashed in the Blue Mountains of Virginia, en route to a race at Martinsville Speedway. Rick's son, Ricky, two team employees, two other individuals, and both pilots were killed.
