Suck for Luck campaign update: Pondering a Minnesota trade

The Indianapolis Colts have a chance to strengthen their holding in the Suck for Luck campaign. After losing Monday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 0-4 Colts can create more distance between them and the 1-3 Kansas City Sunday.

Kansas City travels to Indianapolis after a 22-17 victory against the moribund Minnesota Vikings. Another win for the Chiefs, especially over the Colts, could spell doom in their shot at acquiring Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Speaking of the Vikings, they're now being bandied about as a new Suck for Luck candidate. However, until Christian Ponder proves he wasn't worth the first-round pick Minnesota used on him, it's hard to justify taking Luck. It's not out of the question that the Vikings still could have the first pick and trade it to a team in need of a quarterback.

Now, which team has the combination of extra draft picks, a just mediocre enough quarterback and the chance to have a selection in the top 10 that would be valuable enough to the Vikings?

Enter the confounding

Cleveland Browns

. It’s possible that no team NFL history has gone from a promising 2-1 start to a dreadful 2-2. Is

Peyton Hillis

being slow-played by the coaches because he wants a contract? Can the wide receivers run anything more than a five-yard crossing route? Why is it that my senile grandma can block better than right guard

Shawn Lauvao

? Why is (current) quarterback

Colt McCoy

throwing 61 passes in a game?
All very serious questions, especially the one about grannie. All answers lead to the Browns being much more serious Luck candidates than they were a week ago.
Of course, there is the win-less

Miami Dolphins

. They’re on a bye in Week 5, which could help the Colts go a half-game ahead in the 2012 NFL Draft order. But, the Dolphins have the kind of schedule the rest of the season that could lead to a gloriously awful 2-14 record. Unless Minnesota or Indianapolis beats them out, Andrew Luck will be wearing aqua, coral, white and navy. Yes, I looked that up.
