Saturday NFL Draft watch notes
Georgia Tech wide receiver Stephen Hill might be the most-hyped 15-catch player ever. Why? Because many of his catches come in spectacular fashion in the Tech option offense. The 6-foot-5 junior has scary ability, averaging 33.5 yards per catch this season. He's a next level talent and it wouldn't be a shock to see him go pro after this season.
Will North Carolina defensive end Quinton Coples get a sack today against Louisville? He got close last week with a half sack, but needs to really get it going. The same can be said for fellow end Donte Paige-Moss, who has seen sporadic playing time this season.
Don't forget about Miami redshirt sophomore running back Lamar Miller. He's run for 100 yards or more in every game this season and is averaging 6.7 yards per carry. Considering the compliance issues that have come up at Miami, it would be more of a surprise if he returned to Miami than if he stayed for 2012. A big game against Virginia Tech today and Miller could cement himself as the second-best draft-eligible running back in the nation. Of course, the Hokies' David Wilson could have something to say about that against a depleted Miami defense.
Miami is getting safety Ray Ray Armstrong back today after he was suspended the first rod games of the season. Armstrong has the natural talent to develop into the top safety in the 2012 class.
After a strong start to the season, it’s surprising Ohio State has utilized tight end
more. He has only 10 catches on the season, but should be a much bigger piece of a questionable offense.
Following a 510-yard performance against Texas A&M last week, the hype around Arkansas quarterback
is becoming legitimate. If he torches Auburn today, more people will start evaluating Wilson’s prospects at the next level.
