Saturday NFL Draft watch notes

Below are some quick notes on things I’ll be keying on during today’s college football games. Make sure to check out the following individual notebooks and look for Oregon at Stanford a little later:

- Auburn at Georgia

- Michigan State at Iowa

- Nebraska at Penn State

Since his return from suspension, Ohio State senior offensive tackle Mike Adams has been impressive. He's moving around well and has the size to dominate. He reminds me of a slightly less talented version of Gabe Carimi, whom the Bears took in the first round this year.

Don't look now but the Cincinnati Bearcats are 7-1 this season. Part of that is due to the play of underrated defensive tackle Derek Wolfe. He's kind of like the Big East version of Penn State's Devon Still. Wolfe was really good against Pittsburgh last week with two sacks. He's an aggressive player who will be a nice late-round pick. His quickness will be tested against West Virginia today. He needs to get through blockers to get in the face of the Mountaineers' Geno Smith.

Louiaiana-Lafayette tight end

Ladarius Green

is finally looking like the player we expected coming into the season. If you get a minute, and can, turn on ESPN3 and check him out against Arkansas State. He’s a superb receiving tight end and has 21 catches in his last two games. Because of where he plays, you’re going to hear a lot more about Green in January at all-star games.
TCU linebacker

Tank Carder

didn’t take the next step this season as he needed to, and has probably been passed over by other prospects. He can help turn that around against Boise State if he can disengage from blocks and shut down Broncos running back

Doug Martin

. The short but powerful running back was hurt last week and his questionable today. He to could use a big game after struggling at times this season.
You can’t help but question the intelligence of Miami safety Ray Ray Armstrong. After being suspended for the beginning of the season, he’s suspended again today after tweeting about having dinner with a public relations firm. This guy is turning himself into a fifth-round pick.
Washington running back

Chris Polk

had a hard time against Oregon last week and needs a bounce back today against Southern California. If he doesn’t have a good game, those questions about his speed and elusiveness are going to pop up again.
Arkansas defensive end

Jake Bequette

showed everyone last week that he’s fully healthy. Against South Carolina he had three sacks and looked really good. He’s an effort rusher who plays through the whistle. He’s got a way to go to regain top 100 status, but possesses the skill set to do so.
Arizona State’s

Brock Osweiler

has been up and down of late, but that’s expected in a first-year starter. He was 22 for 38 passing against UCLA last week and missed some open targets. I still love his potential and he should torch Washington State tonight.

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.

It’s a high-potential pick for a Detroit defense that needs a solid pass rusher.
