When it happened, the dislocated ankle Wisconsin junior center Peter Konz suffered Saturday against Minnesota looked brutal. My immediate thought was that there was no way the junior would be able to enter the 2012 NFL Draft.
Top center prospect Peter Konz could be back by Big Ten title game
Instead, there is a possibility that Konz could be back for the Big Ten title game on Dec. 3, should Wisconsin make it. Reading quotes from head coach Bret Bielema, it sure sounds like Konz will play as soon as possible.
“They were able to put (it) back in place,” Bielema told reporters. “We’re looking at the short end, maybe two weeks. On the long end three to four weeks.
“My guess, Pete will probably be back sooner than most people think.”
That’s kinda freaky and, quite honestly, admirable. That toughness is a big reason why Konz is considered by most to be the top center prospect in the nation (which reminds me, the positional rankings will get updated starting tomorrow and Konz will be the No. 1 center).
