Game ball of the week: Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State
The Cowboys senior quarterback finished the game completing 31 of 37 passes for 423 yards and five touchdowns. It was a 66-6 bloodbath of a win for Oklahoma State over Texas Tech. The win was so impressive it may have vaulted Weeden to the top of the Heisman Trophy rankings. After the jump, the video and some thoughts on Weeden’s pro potential.
Oklahoma State runs as true of a shotgun spread as you’ll find in the nation. With that in mind, the biggest issue for Weeden at the next level will be how fast he’ll be able to adapt to an NFL style. The trouble for Weeden is that because he’s an at an advanced age (28), he won’t be afforded as much growth time to learn as other rookie quarterbacks.
Weeden also has somewhat drawn-out delivery that may need some shortening at the next level. His passes come out slow and NFL corners will be able to more easily break on the ball.
