Peyton Manning May Be Contemplating Retirement, According To Report

Peyton Manning has a better than 50 percent chance of retiring according to Fox Sports reporter Chris Myers. Myers reportedly spoke to Manning prior to the Indianapolis Colts' game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, before talking to Fox Sports. Manning has sat out the entire 2011 season so far with a neck injury.

Still, every indication seems to be that Manning would like to continue playing by any means necessary. He is at the whim of his own body, however, after undergoing a third neck surgery in September. His original gave diagnosis gave him 3-4 month window for return, meaning he could still technically play in December. That possibility is the only reason that the Colts haven't placed Manning on injured reserve.

The Colts are now 0-11 after Sunday’s defeat at the hand of the Panthers. The franchise is still in the driver’s seat for the No. 1 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, where Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck is considered the consensus first overall pick.
