“What Fools These Mortals Be!”

Dick Heller of The Washington Times is shocked (shocked!) that The Sporting News would fail to include Cal Ripken’s consecutive games streak among “Sports’ 10 Greatest Records.“ But more impressive to me is Cal’s All-Star vote winning streak from 1992-2001, a record which inspired the term “ripkened,” as in “I’ll bet you twenty bucks that Jeter will ripken his way onto the All-Star team again in 2012.”
