The Chicago Cubs were a little OBP-challenged in the outfield last season. Alfonso Soriano has never been especially adept at reaching base, and he's not likely to improve during the remaining 14 years of his contract. Marlon Byrd is a productive player, but he's never been a plate-discipline guy. Getting on base was just about all that Kosuke Fukudome could do, but he was traded at the deadline.
David DeJesus, Cubs Reach Agreement
The Chicago Cubs reached an agreement with David DeJesus to be the Cubs’ new right fielder.

Enter David DeJesus. From Ken Rosenthal:
Cubs reach agreement with David DeJesus. Will be their everyday right fielder. The first move from Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer to fix an offense that scored 4.04 runs per game -- just below the league average -- was to grab DeJesus, whose career on-base percentage is .356. The former Royal and Athletic also plays a pretty good right field, if that’s your thing.
It wasn’t exactly dirt cheap, though, as DeJesus will get two years and $10 million with a third-year option, according to Jon Heyman. DeJesus is coming off the worst year of his career, as he hit just .240/.323/.376 in the black hole of foul territory in Oakland, but presumably his lefty swing will play better in Wrigley Field.
