Fare Thee Well, Koyie Hill

There is a long history of Chicago Cubs with a non-standard number of fingers. There was Mordecai “Three-Finger” Brown, Antonio Alfonseca, who had twelve fingers and toes, and Cornelius “Extra Arm” Bridwell, who roamed the West Side Grounds during the second Grover Cleveland administration. Koyie Hill, who returned to the Cubs only 10 months after severing his thumb and three fingers in a table saw accident in 2007, was non-tendered yesterday. May he never again have to show such grit in the face of catastrophe.
