This is the Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown entry from a set of the most amazing postcards you will ever see. Each one features a member of the famous 116-win 1906 Chicago Cubs along with a different pose of what I'm presuming is a Steiff bear illustrating a catchy bit of chatter. They're as rare as two-headed babies and worth nearly as much.

The set originally contained 16 cards and was published by Grignon in 1907. The nine cards for sale here were mailed late in the 1907 season by a woman named “Catherine” to a Helen Martin of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Catherine was a witty sort; be sure to read her messages. The nine players illustrated are: Mordecai Brown, Frank Chance, Carl Lundgren, Pat Moran, Orvie Overall, Ed Reulbach, James Sheckard, Harry Steinfeldt and James Slagle. The seven not included are: Arthur “Circus Solly” Hoffman, Johnny Kling, Jack Pfeister, Frank Schulte, Jack Taylor, Joe Tinker and Johnny Evers. Pictured below are the nine cards in the eBay aution, but you can see all 16 of them here. (Check out the final bid on that 2010 auction!)
