Canadiens Vs. Blackhawks: Corey Crawford Returns With Vengeance In Blackhawks’ 5-1 Win

Corey Crawford returned from a two-week hiatus with 20 saves in a 5-1 win.

Corey Crawford hadn't played in a while. It had been over two weeks since Crawford saw game action; he was pulled in the second period of the Chicago Blackhawks' 4-3 shootout loss to the Phoenix Coyotes after allowing three goals on 16 shots.

Ray Emery filled in in relief and never left, starting six consecutive games and winning the first five before losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins Tuesday. With back-to-back games, head coach Joel Quenneville elected to go with Crawford. That decision paid off he made 20 saves as Chicago defeated the Montreal Canadiens 5-1.

Crawford looked steady in net despite giving up the game's first goal to Andrei Kostitsyn in the second period. He did not allow anything after that as five different 'Hawks scored in a rout.

Even with the loss to the Penguins, the league-leading Blackhawks are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. Crawford shook off some rust and proved that he and Emery make up one of the NHL’s best tandems.
