2012 NFL Draft stock up spotlight

Getty Images

Throughout the season we’ve looked at some players who helped their 2012 NFL Draft stock with great performances in the previous week’s games. This week’s games featured a lot of good performances by defensive linemen.

Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse
Jones was all over the field against Pittsburgh on Saturday. He finished with 4 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 interceptions and 1 quarterback hurry. This was the kind of game you had to watch to understand why Jones is highly regarded. He was getting off the line quickly and making Pittsburgh's offense change on the fly. Now the question will be whether or not the junior will enter the draft a year early.

Derek Wolfe, DT, Cincinnati
Did you know Cincinnati has a 9-3 record this year? Me either. A big part of that has been the play of Wolfe, a senior. Against Connecticut, he was dominant with 10 tackles and 5 tackles for loss. Wolfe is a great hustle player but has good strength and length as well. He could fit nicely as an end in a 3-4.

Cordarro Law, DE, Southern Mississippi
A big reason Southern Miss was able to knock off Houston and win the Conference USA title was the play of Law. He was disrupting the rhythm of Cougars quarterback Case Keenum all game due to his burst off the line of scrimmage. Law seemed to always be near the ball at the line of scrimmage and finished the game with 6 tackles and 1 sack.

B.J. Cunningham, WR, Michigan State
The worst thing about doing rankings on an NFL Draft site is always wanting to re-adjust them. That's the case on the wide receiver rankings thanks largely to Cunningham's play. He capped a great senior season with 5 catches for 115 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Big Ten Championship Game. On the year, he's averaging 17.2 yards per catch, which is higher than both Justin Blackmon and Michael Floyd by more than 5 yards.

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.

It’s a high-potential pick for a Detroit defense that needs a solid pass rusher.
