Entering Tuesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings, the St. Louis Blues held the dubious distinction of having the worst power play in the NHL. Clocking in at single digits - 9.2 percent - St. Louis' power play was powerless. Eight power play goals in 87 chances? Not so good.
Red Wings Vs. Blues: St. Louis’ Power Play Finally Works In 3-2 Win

Yet, the Blues scored a quarter of their season total with the man advantage in a 3-2 win over the Red Wings.
Alexander Steen's blast off the faceoff tied the game at 1-1 in the second period, while David Backes' tip-in within the first minute of the third period gave the Blues the lead for good.
Under Ken Hitchcock, St. Louis is 9-2-3 and rolling. Brian Elliot has had a career resurgence in goal this season, stopping 27 shots for his 11th victory of the season. If the Blues’ power play can mirror Elliot’s recent rise, they could be a force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference.
