We are in that lovely stage of the draft process where the combine numbers have yet to impact draft stocks. This always a time where we see a surge of Mock Drafts and we love to share those with everyone. The “Rock out with your Mock Draft out” articles are a great way to see how different people rank the various prospects. This mock by ESPN’s Mel Kiper looks very different than the one I posted two weeks ago (Check out Jon Dove’s Mock HERE).
Rock out with your Mock Draft Out: Mel Kiper
Last week, I looked at a Mock by Todd McShay and was shocked to see JJ Watt going #9 to the Dallas Cowboys and now today Mel Kiper has Watt going #6 to the Cleveland Browns. Honestly, I am still shocked and have not let these developments change my opinion of Watt. I still feel that he has 1st round talent but would be a reach as a top 10 selection. Watt is an effort guy that has some nice physical abilities but is unlikely to lead the league in sacks. I am aware that sacks are not everything but when your selecting a defensive end in the top 10 he should be able to provide you with double digit sacks. I just don't see Watt hitting double digit sacks year in and year out. Again I want to stress that sack totals are not everything but I am not sure Watt would even command double teams.
As usual, Kiper’s mock is protected by the ESPN Insider but if you are a member you can check out the mock HERE.
