Update - Midnight CST: Ten years after his first Cup victory at Daytona, Michael Waltrip picks up his first truck series win in the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway driving VAR’s #15-NASCAR Race View/Wounded Warrior Project Toyota.

On a green-white-checker restart, Waltrip let Sadler pull down to the inside to take the lead. On the final lap, Waltrip laid all over the back of Sadler and coming off four was able to get to the outside to take the checkered flag. #2-Elliott Sadler finished second.

Rounding out the top ten were; #92-Clay Rogers, #7-Miguel Paludo, #18-Kyle Busch, #10-Jennifer Jo Cobb, #1-Jeffrey Earnhardt, #4-Ricky Carmichael, #31-James Buescher, #88-Matt Crafton.

There were about five trucks left with no damage following two major accidents with less than 25 laps remaining.

The excitement for the weekend is just gaining momentum and it continues with the Truck race today. The big topic of conversation of late is not who made the race but who didn’t, most notiably Rick Crawford and Mike Skinner.

Can you believe it? Mike Skinner didn’t make the race?

Wow.

How fitting that on the 10th anniversary of Dale Earnhardt’s death we have a RCR owned black number three sitting on the pole - you know who I’ll be pulling for. Go Austin, go!

Here is the starting line-up (via nascar.com).
