Update: The NFL Network is reporting that Newton plans on throwing because he wants to be “transparent.” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Newton said he’d throw at the Combine at the Davey O’Brien Awards ceremony.
Cam Newton undecided on throwing at NFL Combine
According to his personal quarterback coach, Cam Newton is undecided whether or not he’ll throw at the NFL Combine.
George Whitifield told the USA Today on Monday that the Auburn quarterback is “prepared to go in and do everything” but will decide based on how he feels.
Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert has already said he's not throwing at the Combine. Washington's Jake Locker is expiated to throw.
Newton showed his throwing ability at a media workout earlier this month.
“I know it’s open to him. It’s not like it’s a shut deal,” Whitfield said. “The competitor in Cam is right now balancing out all the advice.”
That advice may be coming from Warren Moon, who is working as an advisor to Newton.
