Southern California offensive tackle Tyron Smith is removing himself from the NFL Combine, according to NFL.com.
Tyron Smith pulls out of NFL Combine workouts
Smith told NFL.com that he’s still recovering from a meniscus injury. Smith was told by trainers to wait until his March 30 pro day before going through a full workout. Smith did push 225 pounds 29 times, a good number for a player with a 36 and 3/8-inch reach and 84 5/8-inch wingspan.
Not working out in Indianapolis should have little impact on Smith’s draft stock. He helped himself greatly by weighing in at 307 pounds. It’s 22 pounds higher than what Smith typically played at.
Somehow, he lost the weight by cutting out junk food and eating three healthy meals a day with small snacks in between.
During his media session on Friday, Smith said he had meetings with the Saints, Browns and Steelers.
