A Speed press release highlighting the network’s changes for the upcoming season contained this interesting nugget: The “Speed Stage” used for the “Trackside Live” program will no longer be high above the fans, but virtually among them.
Speed Lowers “Trackside Live” Set To Near Ground-Level
↵Speed says the “sleeker, more modern look” will bring drivers and commentators “nearly eye level with and surrounded by fans.”
↵
“The Trackside stage will sit only 30 inches off the ground, giving fans a bird’s eye view of the panel and drivers, reflecting NASCAR on Speed’s casual, in-depth interview approach to the 2011 season,” the release said. “Additionally, NASCAR Live no longer will air from the Speed Stage but from various points around the track, including the garage area.”
↵Hosts for “Trackside” were listed as Steve Byrnes, Darrell Waltrip and Jeff Hammond (no mention of Larry McReynolds on “Trackside”).
↵What do you think of Speed’s idea to put the stage among the crowd?
