South Side Sox’s Jim Margalus on the scrubbing of Mark Buehrle’s comments about Michael Vick:
Nobody Well-Served By MLB.com’s Scrubbing

↵MLB.com’s post-facto editing hurts Buehrle. It also hurts the fans, who rely on team-based reporting more and more as newspapers deal with shrinking resources. It also doesn’t do any favors for Merkin, whose name is on the neutered story. He did his job by presenting a strikingly real perspective, but I guess it was too transparent for the site.

MLB.com’s writers actually have more latitude than I expected. But deep down, the website will always be, on some level, a part of MLB’s p.r. machine. So like it or not, these things are going to happen.
