It has been about 15 months since Heights of Wichita lost a boys basketball game. Forty-four games later, Heights is nationally ranked in the top-10 and on the cusp of its third straight Class 6A championship in Kansas.
Behind junior power forward Perry Ellis, ranked the No. 6 power forward for 2012 by ESPN, Heights will be the heavy favorite. In addition to Ellis, Heights also boasts a dangerous backcourt tandem in Even Wessel (Wichita State recruit) and Dreamius Smith (Kansas football recruit).
The 6A final will take place at Wichita State's Charles Koch Arena.
The only other undefeated boys in Kansas is Atchison County (23-0), located about 50 miles northeast of Topeka, of Class 3A. The team is led by junior guard Austin Eckert, who averages 19.3 points and 3.8 assists per game.
The 3A final will take place Saturday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena
