Kurt Busch Makes Field At NHRA Gatornationals, Qualifies 12th

Busch, attempting to make his NHRA drag racing debut in the Pro Stock division, qualified 12th for Sunday’s Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla.
↵Busch struggled in the first two qualifying sessions on Friday, with severe tire shake and a rookie mistake leaving him on the outside of the 16-car field.
↵
But he mounted what the NHRA described as “a nice clean pass” in Round No. 3 this morning, then backed it up with another solid run in Round No. 4 (although a bit slower).
↵Busch’s official top speed of the four qualifying rounds was 211.46 mph. Rodger Brogdon topped the sessions with a pass at 213.57 mph.
↵Because he’s the No. 12 qualifier, Busch will face the No. 5 seed in the first elimination round on Sunday. That happens to be Erica Enders, who is currently fifth in the Pro Stock point standings.
↵“Yah baby!!!” Busch tweeted after the third qualifying round. “I will take that.”
