Nationwide Racing goes Short Track Racing: The Scott’s EZ Seed 300 Preview

Bristol, Tennessee. Just the name gets me excited. Brisol Motor Speedway is one of the best tracks that Nascar has to offer. The World’s fastest half mile track has been home to Nascar races since 1961, and is the 4th largest sporting event venue in America. Bristol sports two different pit lanes, as well as some of the highest banked turns around.

With it’s small size, and large field of cars for the race, slower qualifiers start the race a half lap down. Many cars will be lapped, and many cars will be destroyed.

Bristol is the lighter fluid needed to start some of the best fueds around. As well as the place where other fueds continue.

Few drivers will leave Bristol in a good mood. We’ve seen winning drivers enter Victory Lane mad about an altercation on track.

Former winners at Bristol that are in this years race include Kevin Harvick (5 wins), Morgan Shepherd (4 wins), Last years winner Kyle Busch (2 wins), Elliott Sadler (1 win), Kevin Lepage (1 win), Jeff Green (1 win), Dale Earnhardt Jr (1 win), Carl Edwards (1 win), Kasey Kahne (1 win), Brad Keselowski (1 win), and last years Spring winner Justin Allgaier. With a list like that, this is anyones race to win.

BLUE-Past Champion RED-Must Qualify on Time

With only 43 Cars on the Entry list, everyone will make the race. Only a few things to note this week:

#05-Day Motorsports returns this week after taking two races off. Willie Allen returns as driver.

#5-Dale Earnhardt Jr returns this week after taking two races off. He is a past champion, and can use a past champion provisional if Kevin Harvick qualifies on time.

#20-Joey Logano retuns to Joe Gibbs second entry this week. Denny Hamlin raced this team at Vegas.

#30-Jason Leffler is in this ride for Bristol. AccuDoc returns as sponsor.

#34-James Buescher will make his 2011 Nationwide debut in a fifth Turner Motorsports Chevy. Exide has signed on to sponsor Buescher in the handful of events he will enter this year. Exide also will be with Turner Motorsports’ truck program.

#38-Kasey Kahne returns the Turner Motorsports this week. Kahne is coming off a win in the Truck Series.

#49-Brad Teague will enter a second Jay Robinson Chevy this week. Expect this team to start and park to help keep the #28 afloat.

#52-Tim Schendel returns to Jimmy Means racing this week to make his 2011 debut.

Short Track racing is where Nascar began, and it still makes no sense to me that we so seldom head to short tracks. Most Nascar stars have never even raced on an Intermediate track before making the leap to the minors. Short track racing is Nascar at it’s best, and this race should be an instant classic. Don’t miss it.

Tune in Saturday, March 19th, at 1pm Eastern to ESPN for the Scott’s EZ Seed 300 from Bristol, TN! Enjoy!
