Today's pro days: Abilene Christian, Georgia Southern, Iowa, North Dakota State, Valdosta State
After a weekend without any, pro day workouts restart again today with Iowa's being far and away the top attraction.
Adrian Clayborn is the team's star player, but he'll most likely stick with his NFL Combine workout times. In Indianapolis, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.78 seconds and posted an impressive 1.61 10-yard time.
Christian Ballard may also stand by his Combine numbers. For a power end, he was impressive in Indianapolis and really helped his stock.
Instead, Iowa's pro day will be another chance for quarterback Ricky Stanzi and safety Tyler Sash to impress. Stanzi is another quarterback who needs every chance to show off for pro scouts. Stanzi has received some interest from the Dolphins, so it will be interesting to see how many guys Miami has in attendance.
Iowa Monday’s top pro day
Sash had a decent Combine, but is likely a third-round pick. He could help himself by improving on his 40-yard dash time, which was 4.62 seconds in Indianapolis.
A player who doesn’t need a good 40-yard dash today is Abilene Christian wide receiver Edmond Gates. When he works out today, he just needs to continue showing he has solid hands. Gates ran the 40 in 4.31 seconds.
If he does, some team in the first 100 picks could fall in love with his playmaking ability. Last season Gates averaged 17.9 yards per catch, finishing the year with 66 receptions for 1,182 yards and 13 touchdowns.
