Bill Elliott Out At Fontana; Will Be Replaced By Landon Cassill, Web Site Says

Bill Elliott’s web site posted a press release on Tuesday saying the veteran driver would not be racing at Fontana this weekend.

↵Landon Cassill will instead take over the No. 09 car for Phoenix Racing. The release said Elliott would return to the 09 car later in the season, but said Elliott “plans to focus on working with his 15-year-old son Chase.”

↵Chase Elliott is a development driver for Hendrick Motorsports.

↵Cassill qualified Germain Racing’s No. 60 car in all three Sprint Cup races he attempted this season, but was a start-and-park in each of them.

↵The 21-year-old drove for Phoenix Racing in the Nationwide Series race at Daytona and finished third.
