Asked about Auto Club Speedway’s decision to shorten its lone race to 400 miles, NASCAR’s most popular driver offered an enthusiastic response.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. On Shortening Fontana Race: ‘Hell Yeah’
↵“That’s awesome,” he said. “Hell yeah. That’s great.”
↵
With only one race date this season, ACS officials had to decide whether to use the traditional 500 mile distance from the track’s spring race or go with the 400 miles used last fall.
↵Officials opted to use a 400-mile distance, and Earnhardt Jr. is among those who applaud the move.
↵He then added – unprompted – that the Fontana track shouldn’t be the only one reducing its distance from 500 miles.
↵“They should look at Pocono,” Earnhardt Jr. said. ”(That’s) the only race that lasts four hours. All the others are ones are in the three hour to 3:15 mark.
↵“We go to Pocono, it’s 3:58. They should cut about a hundred miles out of that one, too.”
