Frozen Four 2011 Teams Feature Midwest Bias, Led By North Dakota Fighting Sioux

This year’s Frozen Four doesn’t have one single Eastern team in the field, and for fans in St. Paul, Minn. that will host the event this year, that’s likely not a problem at all.

Following the first weekend of the 2011 NCAA hockey tournament, North Dakota hockey will lead the field of four into the final weekend after rolling two both Denver and RPI up like carpets and tossing them in the dumpster out back.

Joining the Sioux will be the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs and the Michigan Wolverines, making for an all CCHA-WCHA final round. Here’s the schedule for the Frozen Four action, which will begin in two weeks.

NATIONAL SEMIFINALS - Thursday, April 7 in St. Paul, Minn.

Minnesota-Duluth vs. Notre Dame - TBA, ESPN2/ESPN3.com
Michigan vs. North Dakota - TBA, ESPN2/ESPN3.com

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - Saturday, April 9 in St. Paul, Minn

UMD/Notre Dame vs. Michigan/North Dakota - 7 p.m. ET, ESPN/ESPN3.com
