Lakers Vs. Mavericks: Dallas Looks To Capitalize On Spurs’ Loss

The Dallas Mavericks have a chance to move up in the standings on Thursday as they take on the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center. Earlier in the evening, the San Antonio Spurs' slump continued with a loss to the Boston Celtics. Dallas, meanwhile, is surging, winning its last five in a row and six of its last seven.

In the Mavs way is Kobe Bryant and the Lakers, winners of their last seven in a row and 15 of their last 16. Both teams are peaking at the right time as the NBA playoffs approach and the playoff races heat up. Last time out, the Lakers ran the New Orleans Hornets out of the arena in a 102-84 win.

After one quarter of play at Staples Center, the Lakers hold a slim lead over the Mavs, 28-26. For more on the Lakers, check out SB Nation Los Angeles and Silver Screen and Roll. For more on the Mavs, visit SB Nation Dallas and Mavs Moneyball.
