Last weekend, Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho was the subject of an attack by a knife-wielding assailant, according to reports. Mourinho was unharmed in the attack, though a bodyguard required medical attention after being stabbed.

The attack took place this weekend at La Coruña airport, after Real Madrid’s 0-0 draw with Deportivo. Mourinho had got to great a group of autograhp-seeking fans whent he attack took place. A bodyguard, identified as Eduardo, suffered a stab wound estimted to be four centimeteres in width. Mourinho’s bodyguards, who at the time thought Eduardo to have been punched, quickly withdrew the coach.
According to José Ramón de la Morena’s report for Cadena Ser (audio here, written report from Sport.es here, both in Spanish), Mourinho was not told about the severity of Eduardo’s injuries until Friday. The bodyguard’s injury was considered minor, with Eduardo not even realizing he had been stabbed until after the incident.
