Gonzaga Prep, fresh from a semifinal upset of No. 1-ranked Garfield, is playing for its first-ever state championship in boys basketball Saturday night against Curtis in Washington’s Class 4A final.

It’s the marquee game of six boys finals Saturday at three venues. The championship games are being played at the Tacoma Dome (classes 3A, 4A), the Yakima Valley SunDome (1A, 2A) and the Spokane Arena (1B, 2B).

Gonzaga Prep (22-3) of Spokane stunned Garfield 66-53 in the final four on Friday. Chris Sarbaugh, who will play at Gonzaga (the university) next season, had 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Gonzaga Prep’s opponent, Curtis, is in a state final for the first time since 1986 and hasn’t won one since 1971.

Darius Johnson-Wilson’s 20 points and nine rebounds were team highs in an 83-71 victory over Davis in the semifinals. Davonte Lacy, a senior guard who has signed with Washington State, scored 19.
