The New York Rangers had a lead in the third period in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series with the Washington Capitals on a goal by Matt Gilroy. An Alexander Ovechkin goal, however, tied the game late. Then Jason Arnott found Alexander Semin at 18:24 of overtime, and all of a sudden, the Rangers found themselves down one game to none in the series, despite having played 53 minutes of shutout hockey.
Rangers Vs. Capitals, Game 2: New York Looks To Score More, Rebound From Tough Game 1 Loss
They look to find some offense to support themselves, and perhaps get a bit more aggressive in Game 2 tonight.
The big news for the Rangers is that Sean Avery will return to the lineup. Avery was a healthy scratch in Game 1, and a scratch in six of the final 13 games for the Rangers down the stretch. Sitting in his place will be Mats Zuccarello, who saw limited action in Game 1. Henrik Lundqvist will once again start for the Rangers. King Henrik made 31 saves in Game 1.
The Capitals look to stay the course, as they'll go with the same lineup as Game 1. They want to continue being physical and crashing Lundqvist's crease throughout the evening. One has to wonder if they'll be able to get the breaks that were going off posts and crossbars last night to go in for them tonight. Washington will once again be starting Michal Neuvirth, who stopped 24 Rangers shots in Game 1.
