Happy Ray Shook Day, Everyone.

Precisely 95 years ago, a man named Ray Shook allegedly suited up to play a game for the Chicago White Sox. According to Baseball-Reference, he did not bat. According to Baseball Almanac, he did not pitch, and he did not field.

↵Perhaps he pinch-ran. Perhaps we are looking at a scorekeeping error. I doubt we will ever know for sure. Friend, I would like to wish you a terrific Ray Shook Day, a day that you will celebrate today with every footstep, with every blade of grass you slice in twain, with every sip of your ale, with every stroke of your brush, whether or not you care to admit or acknowledge it.

↵We remember you, Mr. Shook, and we would miss you if we knew you. We wish you smooth sailing on the sea of your choice or circumstance.

↵(Thanks to Pat C for reminding us of this holiday.)
