It’s about this time of year where members of the traditional media start putting out mock drafts.
Often, they’re full of information that comes direct from NFL teams. No media member arguably has better access to those teams than Peter King of Sports Illustrated.
So his first mock draft is something you’re going to want to make sure and check out. King does his mock draft in a will pick/should pick format. That leads to some interesting scenario.
Peter King releases first mock draft
Namely, King thinks the
will draft Nick Fairley but should take TCU quarterback Andy Dalton. King thinks that Dalton will actually get picked 15h overall by the
. That’s much higher than anywhere I’ve seen.
He also projects North Carolina defensive tackle Marvin Austin pretty high, giving him a will pick to Seattle. King notes, though, that no team wants to trade more than Seattle. How much of that is reporting and how much is speculation is unknown.
Ultimately, that’s the hardest thing to judge with media mock drafts. So check out King’s mock here and let us know what you think.Update: Oh! I forgot to mention the trade King has in his mock. King believes the Texans will trade with the 49ers for the seventh overall pick to draft Patrick Peterson. That’s odd considering San Francisco would probably want Peterson.
