Blue Jays’ Frank Francisco Returns From DL

Bad news for all of you Jon Rauch owners in fantasy leagues everywhere: Frank Francisco is coming off the disabled list, and the Toronto Blue Jays say he will return as the closer. Francisco was on the DL with a right shoulder strain he suffered during spring training.

Francisco had made five rehab starts for the Blue Jays’ Class-A Dunedin this month, though according to MLB.com, things were a little shaky for the reliever:

Francisco, on the 15-day DL with a right shoulder strain, made five relief appearances in a rehab assignment for Class A Dunedin, giving up six runs in five innings (a 10.80 ERA).

To make room on the roster the Blue Jays demoted starting pitcher Jesse Litsch to AAA. Litsch had made three starts for Toronto and pitched very well, but he was a roster casualty made in preparation for the pending return of injured starter Brandon Morrow.
