How did Cecil earn his way back? By starting 12 games with the 51s, posting a 5.26 ERA. In fairness, though, his strikeouts were good, his walks were good, and Las Vegas is a hitter-friendly environment in a hitter-friendly league. Cecil also reportedly showed improved velocity, so there are encouraging signs beyond his runs allowed.
As for Stewart, the 24-year-old righty allowed 26 hits over three starts. He’ll keep floating around as organizational depth.
