Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Aaron Hill remains day-to-day after an MRI on his injured hamstring was inconclusive.
Aaron Hill Hamstring MRI Is Inconclusive
Hill injured the hamstring on a stolen base attempt in Tuesday night's game against the New York Yankees, and after optioning Brett Cecil to AAA in favor of utility infielder Chris Woodward, it seemed likely that Hill would go on the disabled list. For now, though, the team is taking a wait-and-see approach. From Arden Zwelling of MLB.com:
(Blue Jays GM Alex) Anthopoulos said the Blue Jays would be careful not to bring Hill back too early in order to avoid aggravating the injury even more.“The question that we debate is to what level does he re-injure it if he goes back out there? Can he play and continue to slowly heal? Is the best thing to go on the DL and just let it heal completely if it can?” Anthopoulos said. “Those are the things we weigh and it changes day to day.”
For now, the Jays figure that the possibility of getting Hill back within the next 12 days is more valuable than the additional roster spot.
