On The Origin Of The Term “Score”

The term score in baseball comes from the Old Norse skor “mark, tally” and originates with the practice of tallying runs with a notch (literally, a score) in a stick or some other piece of wood.

↵As for the term ball — as in, “strikes and balls” — and whether it relates to any part of the male anatomy, the only reasonable answer is “If it makes your life better to believe that, then yes, absolutely.”
