While two Game 7's play out in the NHL on Tuesday night, the Boston Bruins are hoping to win their fourth straight game and avoid one of their own as they return to Montreal for Game 6 against the hated Canadiens.
Bruins Vs. Canadiens, Game 6: Carey Price, Habs Look To Live Another Day
The Bruins, if you remember, were down 0-2 in this series to the Habs, but after sweeping Games 3 and 4 at Bell Centre, Nathan Horton's overtime winner at TD Garden in Game 5 pushed Montreal to the brink. Panic in Boston has turned back to excitement, especially with the prospect of not even needing a full seven games to end this thing.
We all know the Habs won’t be going down easily though, as this is the same team that upset their way to the Eastern Conference Finals a season ago. It’s likely to be another goaltender battle in Game 6, and because of that, every little mistake will be magnified.
Failed clears, missed coverage, momentary lapses in judgment could be the difference between a Game 7 and the end of the season for the Canadiens. They'll need Carey Price, who made 49 saves on 51 shots in Game 5, to be incredible again. He'll also have to outduel Tim Thomas, who earned the victory in Game 5 mostly on his own, stopping 44 of 45 shots.
The Bruins attack has been easily neutered thanks to their atrocious power play. It's yet to score a goal in the series, and when that happens against a goalie like Price, it's going to be tough to put many pucks in the net. Of course, P.K. Subban playing 40 (!) minutes of hockey on the Habs blue line makes things tough too.
