The 2011 NFL draft is right around the corner and SB Nation’s Bucky’s 5th Quarter has the full run down on DE J.J. Watt, who could be a first round pick. Check out Bucky’s 5th Quarter for more on Wisconsin football.
NFL Draft 2011: DE J.J. Watt, Wisconsin
Defensive end | 6’5”, 290 pounds | Junior
J.J. Watt can play defensive end out of a 4-3 or 3-4. The Badgers often moved him inside on certain plays to create confusion.
Watt lives by the motto “Dream Big, Work Hard.” That phrase helped him go from a tight end at Central Michigan to a dominant defensive end at Wisconsin who was able to leave for the NFL a year early. In fact, he transferred to Wisconsin without a scholarship offer, but earned one in less than a year and immediately became a starter after sitting out the NCAA mandated one-year. A star on Twitter (@JJWatt99), Watt often tags his tweets with “#DBWH” and fans across Wisconsin have started to use Watt’s “Dream Big, Work Hard” motto in their own lives.
NFL player he compares to: Jared Allen, Minnesota Vikings. Like Allen, he's not extremely athletic but is strong with a non-stop motor.
