NFL Draft 2011: OT Gabe Carimi, Wisconsin

The 2011 NFL draft is right around the corner and SB Nation’s Bucky’s 5th Quarter has the full run down on OT Gabe Carimi, who could be a first round pick. Check out Bucky’s 5th Quarter for more on Wisconsin football.

Offensive tackle | 6’7”, 314 pounds }| Senior

Carimi comes from a pro-style, run-first offense. Heould play left tackle in NFL, but many scouts believe he will be a right tackle or guard.

Carimi redshirted his first season at Wisconsin and watched Joe Thomas win the 2006 Outland Trophy and get drafted No. 3 overall by the Cleveland Browns. The next season the redshirt freshman took over for Thomas at left tackle and four years later - after starting 49 games - Carimi won the 2011 Outland Trophy.

NFL player he compares to: Joe Thomas, Cleveland Browns. Carimi is not as athletic as Thomas, but has similar size and will never be able to escape comparisons to his predecessor at Wisconsin.
