2011 NFL Draft: DT Nick Fairley, Auburn
Defensive lineman | 6'3, 291 pounds | Junior
College defense: Multiple, Projected first round pick at defensive tackle.
What you may not know: While Fairley gets a lot of publicity for being a dirty player, off the field he's anything but bad. He has a reputation as a fan favorite and always seems to have a smile on his face. He's been known to stand around forever signing autographs for fans.
He can also be emotional. His love for Auburn is unwavering. People got to see the rare emotional side of Fairley when he made his declaration for the NFL Draft in January. The guy literally has two separate personalities, one for the football field and another for the fans.
NFL comparison: Many people like to compare Fairley to former NFL great Warren Sapp. That's a fair comparison. Both have a mean streak on the field and are masters at disruption. While many don't see it, he also compares favorably to Ndamukong Suh. Fairley has every opportunity to be as good as the former Nebraska Cornhusker.
A key for Fairley will be coaching. Former Auburn defensive line coach Tracy Rocker got the most out of Fairley. He pushed him beyond what Fairley thought was possible.
Should Fairley fall back in the draft, don't be surprised to see him go to the Tennessee Titans with the eighth pick. Rocker now serves as line coach for the Titans.
