Carolina Panthers Select Cam Newton #1 Overall in 2011 NFL Draft

With the #1 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft the Carolina Panthers select Cam Newton.

This has been the projected pick for awhile and all angles have been discussed. I still feel that the pick is a mistake and could potentially set the franchise back for several years. However, Cam has star potential and will put fans in the seats. The offensive staff in Carolina will need to get to work asap in order to ensure Newton can make an impact early.

Jimmy Clausen will now be playing for a shot to land on another team. His trade value will not be high but there is still potential.
