With the Cleveland Browns on the clock with the sixth overall pick, the team decided to trade it with the Atlanta Falcons.
Browns trade No. 6 pick to Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons traded up to select Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones.
The Browns received picks 27 (1st), 59 (2nd) and 124 (4th) in this year’s draft. They’ll also get Atlanta’s first and fourth-round picks in 2012.
“And Cleveland, you just added, in essence, a full draft for dropping down 21 spots in the first round,” said Peter King of Sports Illustrated on Twitter.
The Browns have several holes to fill as they switch to a 4-3 on defense and a West Coast scheme on offense.
“I think the trade for all those picks was smart by Heckert & Holmgren,” Browns star return man Josh Cribbs said on Twitter.
