Wayne Rooney’s Phone Apparently Hacked By Newspaper

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has claimed via his Twitter account that Scotland Yard detectives have uncovered evidence that 'a newspaper' has hacked into his mobile phone. If true this is a big deal. It wouldn't be a new trick, either - accessing voicemails and text messages is a great way to stir up controversy, and the tabloids thrive on such things. Here's the tweet in question from Rooney:

Scotland Yard detectives came to see me earlier and showed me some documents, looks like a newspaper have hacked into my phone.#Bigsurprise#less than a minute ago via Twitter for iPhone Favorite Retweet Reply

It’s pretty interesting that he’d just throw that news out onto Twitter, but I’d have to imagine that he’s probably rather annoyed that members of the media are illegally bulldozing their way into his private life in order to stir up things to sell more papers. If the police are involved already, there’s a real chance someone could get in very deep trouble over all of this - but don’t hold your breath on there being a sea-change in the despicable tactics certain outlets use in trying to stir up trouble. For that, we’ll probably need flamethrowers and holy water.

Any guesses as to which ‘newspaper’ this actually is?
