NFL Draft first round results

The first round of the 2011 NFL Draft was filled with trades, surprising picks and some startling drops.

The trade that played a big role in the first round involved the Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns. Atlanta traded five picks to get wide receiver Julio Jones. The Browns took the 27th overall pick and packaged it with a third-round pick to take defensive tackle Phil Taylor.

Cleveland didn't have the best trade, though. That may belong to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team gave up pick 16 and 49 to the Redskins to draft Blaine Gabbert 10th.

When Jake Locker was taken eighth overall, it was a stunner. It’s just barely more surprising than the Seahawks going with offensive tackle James Carpenter in the first round.

Then there’s the fall of Clemson defensive end Da’Quan Bowers. You have to feel bad for Bowers, who many consider the best defensive end in this year’s draft.

After the jump is a full recap of the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
