Alabama Tornadoes: Nick Saban And Gene Stallings Offer Comfort

In the wake of the unbelievable devastation wrought on Tuscaloosa by Wednesday’s storms and tornadoes, some familiar faces could be seen out and about on the University of Alabama campus, lending comforting words and red meat. Tuscaloosa’s ABC news affiliate snapped this photo of former Crimson Tide coach Gene Stallings, who set up shop grilling burgers for emergency aid workers:

The coach, who led Alabama to a national title 1992, says he was in town for a golf tournament that has since been canceled. Stallings says he just wanted to help however he could and make life a little better for people. He says “it just didn’t feel right to play golf.”
